| Weight: 1677 grams, BCS: 1.5 ------------- PHYSICAL EXAM FINDINGS ---------------- Attending Veterinarian: Dr. Amberly Sokoloff Observational examination Mentation: QAR Posture: standing Comments: able to run away quickly, not able to fly - suspect because arrow was hindering wing movement Vital stats Heart rate: 200 Oral cavity: thickened saliva, mm pale Choana: clear Glottis: clear Beak: wnl Cere/nares: some dirt present in nares Crop: empty Feather quality: adequate Integument: heavy louse infestation Wings: small wound at medial R carpus from the arrowhead protruding from the chest Wings - Range of motion: wnl Wings - Patagium: wnl Legs/Feet: arrow going through the soft tissues cranial to the R stifle and inguinal web Legs/Feet - Range of motion: left wnl Legs/Feet - Plantar surface: wnl Legs/Feet- Talons: wnl Neurologic: no obvious deficits Ceolom: palpates wnl Vent: wnl Droppings: watery Uropygial gland: DNE Other observations: intact arrow with entrance just cranial to the right stifle, passing through the right pectoral muscles, the keel, and exiting the left pectoral muscles, taking a cranial trajectory Problem list: shot by arrow - large contaminated wounds Assessment: will need imaging to determine what structures are affected and whether treatment should be pursued, if so, we will likely progress directly to surgery Plan: take directly for CT imaging; gave meloxicam 0.24ml SQ based on estimated weight ~1200g; AIL spray applied Prognosis: Unknown
